In the spring of 2021 as we emerged from "sheltering at home" I created mixed media pieces on rosin paper. Each piece, completed in a single day was inspired by diverse musical artists. I allowed the music to guide my strokes and colors and felt a sense of exhilarated freedom knowing that I planned to  burn the finished pieces. Little did I know that some pigments would not burn and with the curling and folding of the ashes new work emerged!

After the burn, photos  were taken of the ashes that remained. Each photo was slightly manipulated and printed on watercolor paper. The work was then  embellished with colored pencils, ink and acrylic paint.
